Undergraduate degree in Music Education from East Carolina University and pursuing a Master's Degree in Music Education from East Carolina University.  


Orchestra Director for Southwest District 2008-present.



A 2008 graduate of East Carolina University, Mr. Walker is in his 9th year of teaching Orchestra.  Mr. Walker is passionate about music education, and strives to promote a tradition of excellence within the Southwest Orchestras.  Mr. Walker began his study of violin in a 5th grade after school orchestra program, and began private studies with Dr. Bernard McWilliams.  After receiving the North Carolina Teaching Fellows award and a generous scholarship from the ECU School of Music, Mr. Walker began viola studies with Yoram Youngerman and Melissa Reardon, and studied chamber music under the direction of Ara Gregorian. 

Mr. Walker was recognized as the 2013/2014 Teacher of the Year for Southwest Middle School, and recently had the honor of conducting the 2012 New Hanover All County Honors Orchestra; the 2014 Robeson All County Orchestra; participated in an Artist in Residence collaboration with Davis Drive Middle School in Cary, NC in 2014; was a full participant in the 2015 and 2016 Karen Tuttle Viola Workshops at the University of North Carolina School of the Arts; conducted the 2015 Moore County High School Honors Orchestra; and will direct the Charlotte-Mecklenburg middle school All County Orchestra in February 2018.
